• Account Information: Email, name, password (hashed)
• Child Profiles: Name, age/grade, learning preferences (provided by parents)
• Conversation Data: Questions asked and AI responses for homework help
• Usage Data: Session duration, features used, study patterns

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide personalized AI tutoring adapted to each child's learning style
• Generate homework receipts for parent review
• Detect concerning content and alert parents
• Improve our AI models and educational effectiveness

3. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

SafeLane is designed for use by children under parental supervision. We:

• Require parental consent for all child accounts
• Do not collect personal information directly from children
• Allow parents to review, modify, or delete their child's data at any time
• Do not use children's data for advertising or marketing

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:

• AI Model Providers: Questions are sent to Claude, GPT-4, and Gemini to generate responses. These providers do not train on your data.
• Payment Processor: Stripe processes payments (we don't store credit card numbers)
• Infrastructure: Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting)

5. Data Retention

Conversation history is retained for 90 days by default. Parents can:

• Delete individual conversations at any time
• Request full data export
• Request account deletion (all data removed within 30 days)

6. Security

We protect your data with:

• Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
• Row-level security in our database
• Regular security audits
• No plain-text password storage

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and data
• Export your data
• Opt out of non-essential communications
